Where do the parakeets in Petco’s cages come from? PETA’s three-month undercover investigation into Creekside Birds, a breeding operation in Petco’s supply chain, documented workers tearing the heads off living birds, crushing parakeets’ necks, and denying sick and injured birds veterinary care for weeks on end.
After talks with PETA, Petco has already stopped selling larger birds like cockatoos and macaws. The next step is obvious: end the sale of birds altogether. Until Petco acts, advocates are urging shoppers to steer clear of the chain.
Activists have already brought this campaign to Petco stores in Chicago, New York, and Albuquerque. Now it's St. Louis’ turn. Project Animal Freedom is proud to fight alongside PETA and help protect every parakeet bred, boxed, and sold as if she were a product instead of a person.
This will be a peaceful, legal demonstration. First-timers are welcome, and no experience is needed. We’ll have signs ready for you!
