Candles of Compassion: A Vigil for the Animals

  • Taste of Lebanon 331 North Euclid Avenue St. Louis, Missouri, 63108 United States (map)
Candles of Compassion: A Vigil for the Animals, an animal rights demonstration organized by Project Animal Freedom in St. Louis, Missouri

🕯️🌹🖤 Join us for Candles of Compassion: A Vigil for the Animals—hosted in the heart of the Central West End during St. Louis’ legendary Halloween street party!

While thousands of revelers celebrate make-believe monsters, we’ll gather at the edge of the party to remember the ghosts in the machine: the billions of land animals and trillions of fish who suffer and die needlessly every year, hidden away and forgotten. For them, Halloween is real, and it never ends. This Halloween, we refuse to forget.

This candlelight vigil will feature:

  • 🕯️ a glowing line of candles lit at sunset

  • 🌹 white roses laid for the fallen

  • 🗣️ heartfelt speak-outs, closing with a moment of silence

This event is for you if you:

  • 🖤 are grieving a loved one, human or animal

  • ✊ believe showing up matters

  • 🎃 want your Halloween to mean something real

This vigil is for our own beloved dead, too. With Día de los Muertos just days away, bring a photo or memento of someone you’ve lost, companion animal or human. This night is theirs as well.

Halloween asks us to face our fears. We’re asking St. Louis to face the truth: Halloween is real. Factory farms are the real haunted houses, and their victims never make it out.

This is a peaceful gathering, not a protest: candlelight, quiet voices, a softly hummed melody. Candles and roses provided.

What are you waiting for? RSVP today and help us commemorate the literally trillions of souls lost to the largest, longest-running mass killing of innocents in history!
