St. Louis Coordinator
Position Overview
The St. Louis Coordinator will provide critical program support to our St. Louis chapter. They will develop programs, manage volunteers, and engage in event planning. They will also assist in donor management and other nonprofit/chapter-related affairs. Their goal is to significantly enhance our capacity and impact locally. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on organizing experience, strong communication skills, and a passion for community-based vegan advocacy.

Pay: $20/hour
Schedule: 20 hours/week (flexible); includes four weeks of unpaid vacation annually
Location: Hybrid (Mostly Remote + Some In-Person Work)

Our mission is to build a fully vegan Midwest by 2056. Through a chapter-based model, we empower grassroots leaders to drive local change with national impact. With five active chapters and ten more launching by the end of 2026, we’re scaling quickly and looking for the right person to help support that growth.
Key Responsibilities
Chapter Communications
Draft and send email and text communications on behalf of our St. Louis chapter
Manage shared inboxes and respond to messages in less than 24 hours
Maintain clear, proactive communication with relevant team members
Leadership Development
Build a robust volunteer program, including associated materials
Meet periodically with our volunteers to enhance their engagement, satisfaction, and personal growth
Support growth of volunteer/leadership pipelines
Program Coordination
Help assess chapter outreach programs and generate internal reports
Collaborate with relevant team members to build infrastructure and strategy
Provide ongoing logistical and strategic support to our St. Louis chapter
Event Planning
Support the planning of major events (e.g. vegan markets, fundraisers)
Help coordinate logistics: venue, catering, volunteers, supplies, budgeting
Assist our St. Louis chapter with successful execution of local events
Candidate Profile
Required
Committed vegan with a passion for movement-building
Experience organizing at least 50 public-facing events (e.g., protests, markets, outreach) or a strong desire to improve their event planning skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Organized, proactive, and comfortable using tools like Google Drive, Excel, and ChatGPT
Able to work independently and collaboratively within a mostly remote team
Preferred
Based in the St. Louis region
Degree in nonprofit management, communications, or related fields
Experience coordinating large-scale vegan events and volunteers
Familiarity with grassroots or chapter-based organizing models
Work Environment & Benefits
Flexible schedule (approx. 4 hours/day, Monday-Friday); weekend response only for urgent items
Four weeks of unpaid vacation (max two consecutive weeks at a time)
Growth potential: candidates who excel may be considered for expanded roles as funding increases
